My dear Students of IETE,

It has often been in my heart to write to you a short note to let you know how intensely interested I am in all that affects you, and how my thoughts, sympathies and support are always with you.

I am deeply perturbed over the recent couple of incidents, in which some you resorted to express your concern, rather anguish, over the dispute on the recognition of our courses, consequent to MHRD letter of July 2013. It is unfortunate, that some you had to do it due to ignorance of the factual position regarding this issue, of which I and the Honourable Members of the Governing Council, along with experts in the field are seized of.

I wish to remind you that ours is one of the oldest and prestigious professional Institution raised more than 60 years ago. Since then the Institution has been doing extremely well earning many distinctions and several accolades in various fields. The Institution’s major objective is to reach the unreachable section of our society and to provide them with the privilege of undergoing higher technical education and acquiring Degree and Diploma certificates in selected discipline of Telecommunications and associated fields of studies.   You are all aware that the standard of our syllabus, examinations are acclaimed to be better than that of many universities in the country.

It is with pride, I claim here, that the Alumni of IETE, in thousands, have had excellent career in most of the Central and State Government Departments, like   Army, Navy, Air Force, DRDO, Railways, Post and Telegraphs, Doordarshan and AIR, ISRO, AEC, Engineering Colleges etc.

Dear students the present issue is a national issue, affecting 14 societies (approx 2 lakh students). Five of these societies have challenged the MHRD order. Hence, I am confident, that it will not be that easier, for any authority, to derecognize the proven qualifications of IETE, which has been in existence for the past six decades.

We had challenged the Government order at the Hon’ble High Court of Delhi and obtained the stay order.  The case came up for hearing before the Hon’ble High court five times in the past, but on all these dates, the Government has failed to file a counter affidavit and hence the case remains postponed to 31 st July 2014.  Let us not forget the fact that no final order has been passed by the court nor any Government order has been issued in contrary. Therefore, as on date, I wish to inform you, that there is no change in the Status of our examinations and procedures.  It is our  sincerest  endeavour, that  the interest of  the existing  IETE  students, who are already undergoing  our course,  are  fully  safe guarded and they are in no way adversely affected.  Towards that we are ceaselessly working and I am confident that we will get justice. We also approached the Govt in the past & will do so in future for solving the issue.

Therefore, I appeal dear students, to work hard to clear your papers at the earliest.  Any agitation will cause damage to our ongoing efforts & your studies.  I wish to assure you that we are working hard to have a solution to the problems at the earliest.

Let us meet the challenge together and join hands in our efforts.

Wishing you all a bright future and a prosperous career.

Thanking you,

Sincerely yours,

Dr S Pal

President IETE
