New Scheme of Examinations : AMIETE/DIPIETE

 

In order to update the technologies, IETE keeps on revising the exam scheme and syllabi regularly. Recently the syllabi were revised for all courses of AMIETE/DIPIETE the schemes those will be effective from June 2009 examination. The highlights of the new scheme are as under : -

(a)        New subjects like Embedded System, Wireless & Mobile Communication etc. have been added whereas the subjects like Applied Mechanics and Engineering Graphics have been deleted.

 

(b)                 4 Lab examinations have been introduced in place of present 2 lab examination in order to give a better practical knowledge.

 

(c)        CGPA system : The Institution has decided to adopt grading system in place of absolute marks. The grading system will be reflected in the marksheets from June 2009 examination for both existing as well as new students. The details of the CGPA System are as under :

 

Note : The existing syllabi will continue till December 2010. Thereafter the students perusing the existing syllabus will have to persue the new syllabus for balance of the papers not cleared. The equivalency of existing and new syllabus has been drawn. To view details click here.

 

CGPA System : AMIETE/DipIETE

 

·         For each subject examination including lab, project & seminar students will be awarded grade and grade points (instead of absolute marks), as given below :

                      70 to <80           A                                  9

                      65 to <70           B+                                8

                      60 to <65           B                                  7

                      50 to <60           C+                                6

                      45 to <50           C                                  5

                      40 to <45           D                                  4
          < 40                  FAIL                             --

             

·         CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) will be calculated as under only for the subjects where a student has passed :-

 

                        CGPA  =           C1 G1 + C2 G2 ------ + Cu Gu

                                                C1+C2+C3 ------ Cn          

 

                         where   G1, G2 ------denote the grade point scored.

                                                C1, C2_------denote the credits of subjects.

                       

All theory Subjects, Lab and Seminar work Carry 4 Credits.

Project work Carries 8 Credits.

 

·         Once a student passes all papers and is not keen to appear for any improvements his final result will be declared. The final result will indicate the division/class as under :-

 

                        (i)         CGPA of 9 or more                                 -           Distinction

                        (ii)         CGPA 6.5 or more but less than 9           -           First Division

                        (iii)        CGPA 5 or more but less than    6.5         -          Second Division

(iv)        Less than 5                                           -           FAIL (No award will be given)
