MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING (MoU)

BETWEEN

THE INSTITUTION OF ELECTRONICS AND

TELECOMMUNCATION ENGINEERS (IETE)

AND

THE COMPUTER SOCIETY OF INDIA (CSI)

 

Preamble

 

1.            The Institution of Electronics & Telecommunication Engineers (IETE) and the Computer Society of India (CSI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 29th September 2007, at Hyderabad to promote the development of a closer working relationship for mutual benefit of their members and in the interest of the professionals working towards the objectives of both the societies.

 

2.            As per this MoU, IETE and CSI, have expressed their desire to cooperate and to facilitate the interchange of membership between IETE and CSI.

 

3.          Now it is Hereby agreed as follows:-

 

(a)         IETE, shall admit any member of CSI (other than student members) who shall so desire as a member of IETE at an appropriate grade and having qualification and experience as per their bye-laws.

 

(b)         CSI shall admit any member of IETE (other than student members) who shall so desire as a member of CSI at an appropriate grade and having qualification and experience as per their bye-laws.

 

(c)          Subject as herein provided all members of IETE and CSI who shall be admitted as member of IETE and CSI respectively shall be bound in all respects by the respective constitutions, rules and bye-laws of each body to which they shall have been admitted.

 

(d)         Both IETE and CSI shall allow to members who shall be admitted to membership by virtue of this MoU a discount of twenty percent (20%)  on the membership fee payable by members of the appropriate society.

 

(e)         Each member of either society who joins the other under this MoU will receive all the benefits and privileges of members of their grade as if they had joined the other society directly unless stipulated elsewhere in this agreement. This includes but is not limited to dissemination of publications as may from time to time be determined by each society.

 

(f)           IETE shall supply to CSI and CSI shall supply to IETE one copy of every formal periodical regularly issued by such body. It also being the intention that there shall be all times a full exchange between both bodies of information on all aspects of computing technology and relevant education.

 

(g)          Every year the IETE and CSI will provide a list of those who have availed themselves of the privileges of reciprocal membership and who, at date of the exchange, are continuing so to avail themselves.

 

 

 

 

 

(h)         Nothing in this MoU shall prevent the parties hereto from arranging and conducting their affairs in the manner best suited to themselves. Neither will develop policies which discriminate specifically against the members of the other society. 

 

4.          Reciprocal Arrangements

(a)         Attendance of the members at the technical events organized by the other organization will be on the same conditions as applicable to the members of the host organization.

 

(b)         Publication to members of the other organization shall be available at the same rates as applicable to the host organization members.

 

(c)          IETE and CSI will jointly develop a programme for the facilitation of members wishing to acquire the membership of the other organization i.e  IEI, ACS, BCS etc.

 

(d)         IETE and CSI will exchange all publications on complimentary basis. Both organizations also agree to prominently display the publications of the other organization in their respective libraries for review of members.

 

5.          Joint Activities

(a)         Joint sponsoring and organization of seminars, conferences and meeting of mutual interest will be encouraged.  Details shall be finalized for each such joint activity on case-to-case basis.

 

(b)         Infrastructure facilities of both the organizations may be utilized for professional activities of either organization on mutually acceptable terms.

 

6.          Training of candidates for Corporate Membership

(a)         IETE and CSI will develop a Technical Cooperation Programme (TCP) relating to technical education and certification of competence of engineers of relevant disciplines.

 

7.          Validity of the Memorandum of Understanding

(a)         This MoU is initially for a period of three years and may be extended further with mutual consent. Amendments to the MOU may be proposed at any time but will be valid only after approval by both organizations.

 

(b)         This MoU may be terminated by either organization after giving 12 months notice in writing.
