MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING

BETWEEN

CENTRE FOR DEVELOPMENT OF ADVANCED COMPUTING, NOIDA

AND

THE INSTITUTION OF ELECTRONICS AND TELECOMMUNICATION

ENGINEERS, NEW DELHI

This Memorandum of Understanding entered into on 23rd day of March 2005 at New Delhi.

Between

 

Centre for Development of Advanced Computing, C- 56/1, Institutional Area, Sector 62, Noida, a unit of Centre for Development of Advanced computing, a Scientific Society of Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Govt. of India (hereinafter referred to as C-DAC, Noida which expression shall unless repugnant or contrary to the context, be deemed to include its administrators, executors and successors) of one Part. .

And

The Institution of Electronics & Telecommunication Engineers, 2, Institutional Area, Lodi Road, New Delhi -110003, a premier professional Institution (hereinafter referred to as the IETE which expression shall unless repugnant or contrary to the context, be deemed to include its administrators, executors and successors) of the other Part.

I           BACKGROUND

India is emerging as a global player in Information Technology (I. T .). According to the estimate of the National I. T. Task Force set up by the Govt. of India, the I. T. industry is poised to garner a sizeable share of the world I. T. market. necessitating hi-tech skills and trained manpower.

C-DAC, Noida is actively engaged in I. T. related R&D programmes as well as 1. T. training and education. It has successfully integrated its computer education and training activities in hi-tech areas with R&D in the field of I. T.

The IETE is a leading professional institution in the field of Electronics, Telecommunication and I.T. It has also been recognized by the Govt. of India as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (SIRO).

 

 C-DAC, Noida is conducting MCA and M. Tech. (Computer Science & Engineering),  

 M.Tech (I.T.), and M.Tech.(VLSI) programmes in affiliation with the GGS IP University,   New Delhi.

 

The IETE is a National Apex Professional body of Electronics and Telecommunications, Computers and IT Professionals. The IETE is engaged in HRD in the areas of Electronics, Telecommunication, Computers and IT leading to the award of AMIETE. AMIETE is recognised by Government of India, Ministry of HRD for the purposes of recruitment to superior posts and services under the Central Government. This qualification is also recognised by UPSC, Association of Indian Universities, many State Govts and most of the reputed Universities/Institutions in the country. The IETE also conducts postgraduate level course ALCCS (Advanced Level Course in Computer Science) which is also recognised by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India, as equivalent to M. Tech in Computer Science for the appointment to superior posts & services under the Central Government.

C-DAC, Noida and the IETE desire to collaborate in the R& D and HRD programmes in the field of I.T. and Computer Science & Engineering as well as other Communication and Software related technology areas.

II         TERMS AND SCOPE OF THE MoU

This MoU sets forth the terms and scope of the MoU for the successful implementation of the proposed collaboration between C-DAC, Noida and the IETE in their R&D and HRD programmes.

 

(a)               Conduct of Technical Activities. C-DAC, Noida and the IETE would cooperate in the organization of technical activities such as Workshops, Seminars and Conferences. Some of these activities may be organized jointly, both at the national as well as the international levels.

 

(b)        Execution of I.T. related R&D Projects. The IETE is interested in involving itself in I.T.- related research programs and would entrust its I.T.- related R&D projects to C-DAC, Noida, as and when necessary. The necessary funding for the execution of these projects will be mutually discussed on case to case basis.

 

(c)        Extension of facilities for Lab/Project work. As well equipped laboratories for higher engineering education are available at C-DAC, Noida, the students of the IETE undergoing the Advanced Level Course in Computer Science (ALCCS) would be permitted to utilize these laboratories for the project work.

(d)         Utilisation of C-DAC, Noida Data Centre for e-Learning. The IETE would be permitted to utilize the C-DAC, Noida Data Centre for e-Learning through the EDUSAT between the IETE Headquarters and some of its specified Centres.

(e)          Utilisation of Internet facilities. C.DAC, Noida would allow the IETE the use of the Internet facilities for e-Learning on cost sharing basis.

III        VALIDITY

This Memorandum of Understanding shall be valid for a period of 3 years. It can be renewed further with mutual consent.

In witness whereof, the Parties hereof have caused this MoU to the executed by its duly authorized officers as of the date fIrst written above.
