MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING (MoU)

 

This Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is entered on the

Thirtieth day of the May 2009

 

BY

 

And

 

BETWEEN

 

The Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers, 2, Institutional Area, Lodi Road, New Delhi-110 003, a premier professional Institution (hereinafter referred to as the IETE which expression shall unless repugnant or contrary to the context, be deemed to include its administrators, executors and successors) of the other part.

 

AND

 

Communications and Manufacturing Association of India, a professional registered association and an apex premier and foremost non-profit trade promotion organization based in India ( hereinafter referred as CMAI), which expression shall include its successors and assignee of the OTHER PART.

 

 

 

Collectively referred to as parties.

WHEREAS IETE is India’s leading recognized professional society devoted to the advancement of Science and Technology of Electronics, Telecommunication and IT.  Founded in 1953, it serves more than 72,000 members through its 57 Centres, spread all over India and abroad.  The Institution provides leadership in Scientific and Technical areas of direct importance to the national development and economy. Government of India has recognized IETE as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (SIRO) and also notified as an educational Institution of national eminence.  The IETE conducts and sponsors technical meetings, conferences, symposia and exhibitions all over India, publishes technical journals and provides continuing education as well as career advancement opportunities to its members.

 

 

Communications and Manufacturing Association of India (CMAI), a professional registered association is apex premier and foremost non-profit trade promotion organization based in India with MoU partners and representatives spread across globe. CMAI is the only trade organization bringing in focused harmony amongst manufacturers across all sectors including ICT, Communications and Environmental Management policies. It is involved in policy formulations with Government and other stake holders for technology innovations, indigenous manufacturing and communications sector and for policies concerning environmental, pollution and health.

 

 

WHEREAS both the above mentioned parties recognizing the capacity, capabilities expertise and experience of each of the parties in their respective areas, desire to synergise the same for the development of human resources in different areas and for this purpose to utilize their resources for the same on mutually agreed terms and conditions.

TERMS AND SCOPE OF THE MoU

This MoU sets forth the terms and scope of the MoU for the successful implementation of the proposed collaboration between CMAI and the IETE in their programmes.

 

(a)         Conduct of Technical Activities. CMAI and the IETE would cooperate in the organization of technical activities such as Workshops, Seminars and Conferences. Some of these activities may be organized jointly,  at local, national or international levels.

 

(b)     Execution of IT/ET/Telecom related R&D Projects. The IETE is interested in involving itself in IT/ET/Telecom related research programs and would entrust its IT/ET/Telecom related R&D projects to CMAI, as and when necessary. The necessary funding for the execution of these projects will be mutually discussed on case to case basis.

RECIPROCAL ARRANGEMENTS

 

          Following reciprocal arrangement is agreed upon by both the parties:-

 

(a)         Attendance of the members at technical events organised by the other organisation will be on the same conditions as applicable to the members of the host organisation.

 

(b)         Publications/Journals to members of the other organisation shall be available at same rates as applicable to host Institution members.

 

(c)          CMAI and IETE jointly agree to facilitate and adopt mutually acceptable norms for admission to the different class of membership in both the Institutions.

 

(d)         CMAI and IETE will exchange all publications on complimentary basis.  Both the Institutions agree to prominently display publications of the other Institution in their respective libraries for review by members.

 

(e)         IETE and CMAI will reciprocate recognition of Courses/ Degree/ Diploma certificates for membership of respective Institutions.

 

(f)    Joint sponsoring/ organizing of seminars, conferences and meetings of mutual interest will be encouraged.  Details shall be finalized for each joint activity on case to case basis.

 

(g)      Infrastructure facilities of both the Institutions shall be available to undertake professional activities on mutually acceptable terms.

REVIEW, AMENDMENT AND TERMINATION

 

This MoU shall be valid for three years from the date of signing the agreement to be renewed subsequently by mutual consent of both the parties.  Thereafter, it will be renewed automatically for a further period of three years if not terminated by either organisation.  Amendments to the MoU may be proposed at any time but will be valid only on the approval of the Councils of both the organisations.

 

The MoU may be terminated by either organisation on giving one month notice in writing.

 

The MoU shall not be binding until it has been formally approved by the Councils of both the CMAI and IETE.
