Eligibility Criteria for Various Grades of Membership
FELLOWS (Byelaw-11)
11. A candidate for election as Fellow or for transfer to the class of Fellow shall satisfy the Council that he possesses the following qualifications:
(a) Age: He shall have attained the age of thirty-five years on the date of his application for election or transfer.
(b) Academic Qualification: AMIETE/BE/B.Tech/B.Sc (Engg) in Electrical Engg., Electronics Engg., Electrical Commn Engg; Instrumentation Engg; Information Technology; Computer Science; Bio-electronics.
ME/M. Tech/MS (Computer Science), MCA/MSc (Computer Science), ALCCS, DOEACC’B’ Level.
OR
shall have passed any other examination, which in the opinion of the Council, is equivalent to or warrants exemption, from the AMIETE examination of the Institution;
OR
shall have passed a post-graduate examination of a recognized university, and/or Institution or equivalent in
any of the disciplines as in Bye-Law 1 (f).
(c) Occupation: He shall be engaged in the discipline in a position of high responsibility, provided that a temporary unemployment shall not be deemed a disqualification; or shall have retired from the profession after having held, before his application for election or transfer, a position of high responsibility.
(d) Experience : He shall have had at least ten years experience in the discipline during which he, either shall have a position of higher responsibility in an oraganisation for a period of five years, of shall have made outstanding contribution in the discipline
MEMBERS (Byelaw-12)
ASSOCIATE MEMBERS (Byelow-13)
13. A candidate for election to the class of Associate Member shall satisfy the Council that he possesses the following qualifications;
(a) Age: He shall have attained the age of twenty-one years on the date of his application for election.
(b) Academic Qualification: He shall have passed the AMIETE examination of the Institution as per examination regulations prescribed by the Council from time to time;
OR
BE/B. Tech/B. Sc. (Engg) in Electronics Engg., Electrical Engg., Electrical Commn Engg; Instrumentation Engg; Computer Science; Bio-electronics.
OR
shall have passed any other examination, which in the opinion of the Council is equivalent to, or warrants exemption from the AMIETE Examination of the Institution.
ASSOCIATES (Byelaw-14)
Every candidate for election to the class of Associate shall be not less than 30 years of age shall satisfy the Council that he has rendered useful service to the profession of Electronics, Telecommunication Engineering, and allied subjects either in the field of Commerce or Finance or Law or in any other area of application. Notwithstanding the above, a candidate enrolled in IETE for postgraduate Advanced Level Course in Computer Science shall also qualify for election to the class of Associates.
Please Note:-
(1) That copies of Certificates of Qualifications and experience are to be attached with the Form.
(2) For Fellows (i.e.FIETE): shall be proposed by two corporate members of the Institution of the class not below that of a Fellow.
For Members (i.e. MIETE): shall be proposed by two corporate members of the Institution of the class not below that of a Member.
For Associate Members/ Associates: shall be proposed by two members of the Institution of the class not below that of an Associate Member.
MEMBERSHIP SUBSCRIPTION
To be retained by the Candidate
Candidate desirous of admission into the IETE are required to pay Application Fee, Admission Fee plus Annual Membership Subscription or Life Compounding Fee according to the age as mentioned below. New Members are to pay application fee, Admission fee addition to life Membership Fee. (as applicalbe) Payment of life Compounded Membership Fee is economical and advantageous to members.

Existing Annual Corporate Members applying for renewal are required to pay only Annual Subscription of Membership fee according to their category as per above chart.
Note:- Fees mentioned above for Indian and Nepal citizen are in Indian Currency (Rupee).
Life Member, on Payment of Life Subscription (in full) are entitled for Photo Members Card. Members may please send their passport size Photograph along with the application form for issue of life card.
*Members applying for transfer to higher category will only pay the application fee, Subscription/difference of Life Membership. No transfer Fee is to be paid.
Life Compounded Fee is payable in full in single installment.

Note : Members who are senior citizen i e more than 65 years, do not have to pay registration charges for Seminar / Conference / Symposium / Convention at any of the Centres in India.
